Meet Mrs. Lopez
I am so pleased to be the full time media specialist at Northfield Elementary. I have been teaching at Northfield since 2001. I received my B.S. in Psychology from the University of California and my MLS (Master of Library Science) from Mc Daniel College. I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher (NBCT), and I serve as a Professional Learning Facilitator for HCPSS, helping other teachers obtain their NBCT certification. I believe I have the best job in the world. I love connecting children to books, and being able to recommend a book to a child. I love watching my students grow from Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
My family and I reside in the Dunloggin neighborhood with our 2 cats, Bear and Nessie. I enjoy cooking, reading, swimming and scrapbooking. Since California is home, I enjoy traveling there as much as possible.
It's an exciting time preparing our students to use print resources, as well as equip them to be learners in this ever changing digital world.

Meet Ms. Valentine
I am very happy to work in the media center as the media paraeducator. I have been at Northfield since 2001. I started in Special Ed, but made the move to media in 2012. I love assisting the children with book selection and managing the day to day operations of the media center. We check out on average 1500-2000 books a week, so the place is always jumping with excitement.
My family and I reside in Elkridge. I graduated from Howard High. In my spare time I enjoy reading, scrapbooking and taking day trips to surrounding states and towns.
I oversee the Media Helpers program which includes 4th and 5th grade students. Media Helpers come in during recess and assist with check out, book selection for the younger grades, processing of new books, and a variety of other tasks.
I enjoy having conversations with students about favorite books and series.

Meet Mrs. Taylor-Pruitt
I am so excited to be a part of Northfield and to join the awesome Library team! This is my first year in elementary education though I have been in post-secondary education for 20 years and was a Young Adult Librarian. I hold a Master’s of Library and Information Science from Valdosta State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Georgia Southern University.
I was born and raised on a farm in Georgia where most of my extended family still live. My husband and our two youngest daughters live in Ellicott City with three dogs and nine chickens! We love camping, motorcycle riding, traveling and everything Doctor Who!
